Position
The knowledge of diseases and of diagnostic and therapeutical processes is expanding rapidly. At the same time, the possibilities are exploding which are offered by powerful computers and global networking. But patients are not benefiting sufficiently from either of the two. We must change this by improving communications between doctors, nurses, scientists, information technologists, and business administrators. This can be done by adopting best practices from other fields such as aviation. By accepting health as an economic good and at the same time as a social obligation. By further developing and applying IT in order to make knowledge available to everyone for utilization.
